Tackling Poverty and Inequality under a Trump Presidency
Conference on Poverty and Inequality at Harvard Kennedy School
February 25, 2017
Cambridge, Massachusetts
In the wake of a contentious 2016 Presidential Election, America remains a deeply divided nation. Decades of growing inequality and a shrinking middle class have fueled economic anxieties nationwide and contributed to a contentious political discourse on how to best move forward. From healthcare to immigration and from trade policy to education, there is much uncertainty about the direction America will take under a Trump Presidency.

Despite this division and uncertainty, deep poverty and growing inequality remain two of the most pressing policy challenges facing America. Over the next four years, policymakers on both sides of the aisle will be forced to confront the divisions in our society and find innovative solutions to address poverty and inequality at the local, state, and federal levels.
The 2017 Conference on Poverty and Inequality will serve as a platform for discussing these solutions and advancing this critical discussion across Greater Boston and beyond. The conference will also serve as a venue for building networks among students, academics, and practitioners focusing on these issues.
